Matador

Past Project

While I was at university, diminor bandmate Gareth Goodlad moved to Glasgow, and with the demise of that band, he and I decided to form a band modelled on The White Stripes, only I was the drummer, not the hotty that Gareth and I would have preferred.

Our first gig, which you can listen to on this page, was at Rockers in Glasgow, playing after Glasvegas, that overwhelmingly overrated dirge that hit the big time not long after that evening. I still think that something happened in the spacetime continuum that evening, a blip that caused them to go down that path instead of us, but in reality, I wasn’t a very good drummer, and Gareth still had a way to go in developing his craft as a singer and songwriter.

Soon after Matador came to an end, he formed The Red Show, who enjoyed a spell of success in Glasgow for a number of years after.
