On moving back to Shetland in 2010, Arthur Nicholson asked me if I wanted to be part of a covers band, I said aye, and First Foot Soldiers was born, with Arthur on guitar and vocals, Robert Balfour on drums and vocals, Joe Watt on bass, and myself on keys/rhythm guitar and vocals.
We spent most of 2011 and 2012 gigging, playing all sorts of venues and parties, and the band became “weel kent” locally. Following a headline set at Glusstonberry, Joe was discharged from duty with full honours. We recruited a new bass player in October of 2013, a young-un by the name of Shaun Strachan, and we’ve been gigging regularly since.
